JOB PURPOSE:
The Manager, Clinic Technology is responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership, coordination, and execution of clinic technology services across Medavie’s clinic operating companies in Canada, including Medicentres.

This role provides management oversight and technical leadership for a unified Clinic Technology team responsible for EMR services and clinic‑specific technology. The Manager acts as the primary liaison between clinic operating companies and Medavie IT, ensuring clinic initiatives, projects, and service escalations are appropriately resourced, prioritized, coordinated, and resolved through the correct delivery teams.

Clinic technology services are delivered through a federated operating model in close partnership with Medavie Shared Services, including Infrastructure, Service Delivery, Cyber Security, Privacy, and the Enterprise Architecture team, ensuring clinic solutions are aligned with enterprise standards while meeting business and clinical needs.

The role requires a leader with strong people management skills and deep technical expertise. The Manager is expected to maintain technical fluency and contribute hands-on as required to support solution design and complex issue resolution.  This position is a key contributor to clinic performance, reliability, and growth, including support for acquisitions and new clinic initiatives across Canada.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinic Technology Execution and Coordination
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of clinic technology services supporting daily clinical operations.
  • Ensure clinic technology issues, requests, and initiatives are appropriately routed, tracked, and resolved.
  • Act as the senior operational escalation point for complex or high‑impact clinic technology issues.
  • Ensure clinic technology solutions meet operational, security, privacy, and supportability requirements.

EMR Services Accountability
  • Maintain operational accountability for clinic EMR platforms and related services.
  • Coordinate EMR onboarding, upgrades, configuration standards, and ongoing support activities.
  • Work closely with Shared Services, vendors, and application teams to ensure EMR stability and performance.
  • Support physicians, clinic staff, and billing operations by ensuring EMR services are usable, reliable, and well supported.
  • Monitor EMR vendor performance and service outcomes.

Technical and Hands-On Leadership
  • Maintain strong technical knowledge of clinic technologies, healthcare IT, and EMR systems.
  • Participate hands‑on where required, including clinic technology setup, solution validation, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to solution design and technical decision‑making within enterprise architectural direction.
  • Review technical designs and proposed changes for alignment with standards, supportability, and clinic operational needs.
  • Balance hands‑on involvement with delegation to strengthen team capability and resilience.

Business Engagement and Liaison Role
  • Serve as the primary technology liaison for clinic leadership, including Medicentres, acquisition teams, and new clinic initiatives.
  • Participate in regular operational and planning forums, including weekly business calls.
  • Translate clinic and business needs into actionable technology requirements and priorities.
  • Provide clear communication to clinic stakeholders on progress, risks, and resolution paths.
  • Guide clinics through Shared Services delivery and escalation processes.

People Leadership and Team Management
  • Provide direct leadership and performance management for the Clinic Technology team.
  • Set priorities and allocate work across operational, project, and integration demands.
  • Coach and develop team members through mentoring, feedback, and skills development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Ensure appropriate participation in on‑call and escalation activities aligned with clinic needs.

Financial and Vendor Coordination
  • Support the Director in managing budgets for clinic technology services.
  • Track operational and project‑related costs and assist with forecasting.
  • Coordinate vendor activities and day‑to‑day performance management.
  • Identify opportunities for cost efficiency through standardization and lifecycle management.

Growth, Acquisitions, and Integration Support
  • Support clinic technology due diligence activities for acquisitions.
  • Contribute to clinic technology integration planning and execution.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for new and acquired clinics.
  • Support repeatable models such as clinic‑in‑a‑box and plug‑and‑play deployments.

Governance, Risk and Documentation
  • Ensure clinic technology solutions align with enterprise policies, standards, and controls.
  • Coordinate with Cyber Security and Privacy teams to support compliance obligations.
  • Maintain service documentation, operational procedures, and clinic technology artefacts.
  • Identify and escalate risks impacting clinic operations or growth.

Additional Requirements:
  • Participation in on‑call support and escalation rotations, as required for owned technology domains.
  • Ability to pass internal and government‑mandated security screenings.
  • Occasional physical requirements related to IT equipment handling.
  • Must be bilingual, English and French

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Post‑secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum seven years of progressive IT experience, including technical leadership and people management.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting complex IT environments, preferably in healthcare or EMR‑based settings.
  • Experience operating service models with SLA and SLO accountability.
  • Experience working within federated or shared services delivery models.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost management, and vendor oversight.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and integration.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare privacy and security requirements.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
